The Aviation Innovation Coalition

The Aviation Innovation Coalition (AIC) is a membership-driven, industry-led organization dedicated to transforming the National Airspace System (NAS) through coordinated public–private collaboration.

The Coalition brings together service providers, technology companies, infrastructure developers, and other strategic stakeholders across the aviation sector to advance modernization efforts and support congressional action to secure the additional $19.5 billion required to complete the Brand New Air Traffic Control Systems (BNATCS) initiative.

Through this collaboration, AIC will help define the technologies, operational concepts, and implementation frameworks needed to power the next era of aviation and ensure the United States maintains global leadership in airspace management and aviation innovation. The Coalition is organized as a nonprofit under Section 501(c)(6) and is incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Mission

The AIC is dedicated to transforming the U.S. National Airspace System (NAS) through coordinated public–private collaboration, and leadership in defining the funding, technologies and operational frameworks that will power the next era of aviation.

Strategic Vision

The AIC will facilitate collaboration between industry and government to develop recommendations for a comprehensive redesign of the National Airspace System. These recommendations will align with the Brand New Air Traffic Control Systems (BNATCS) initiative and other emerging technical architectures and technologies, supporting the development of a modernized, digital, resilient, and scalable framework for air traffic management and aviation infrastructure across the United States.

This vision includes:

  • Modern digital infrastructure

  • Cloud-based aviation systems

  • AI-enabled operational management

  • Dynamic airspace design

  • Integrated surveillance architectures

  • New or upgraded facilities

  • Sustainable and scalable funding models

The Coalition will serve as the industry forum where these frameworks are developed, tested, and advanced.
